Forensic Interviewing of Children Training

2013 TRAINING DATES AND COURSE INFORMATION

Forensic Interview of Children courses will be offered again in 2013. OCA has partnered with the Department of Family and Children Services to bring the training to professionals in Georgia. The national partner that will assist in providing the training in Georgia is First Witness. The five day on-site program consists of lecture and discussion, review of recorded interviews, skill-building exercises, interview practice and a legal day that prepares forensic interviewers for court testimony. Participants will receive a class manual that contains current and relevant research and practices.

OCA is in the process of securing continuing education units for social workers, lawyers, law enforcement professionals and psychologists who attend these trainings in 2013.

2013 Office of the Child Advocate Forensic Interviewing of Children Training Sessions:

The first Training Session will be held on March 11, 2013 - March 15, 2013 in Savannah, Georgia. The application deadline is February 1, 2013.  The location for the training is the Coastal Georgia Center. Coastal Georgia Center is located at 305 Fahm Street, Savannah, Georgia 31401.  The official hotel for the training is the Springhill Suites.  The location for the Springhill Suites is 1 Jay R. Turner Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31408.

The second Training Session will be held on July 15, 2013 - July 19, 2013 in Duluth, Georgia. The application deadline is June 5, 2013.

 

Who Should Attend?

This training is specifically designed for child interviewers who have responsibility for initial investigative/forensic interviews of children. It is appropriate for professionals from the fields of child protective services, law enforcement, and those affiliated with a Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC).  This training is offered at no cost to the participants.

Length

This training is 5 full days.

A certificate of attendance will be awarded to those participants who attend the training in its entirety. CEUs are available for this training.

NOTE:  Applications that contain a letter of recommendation from a supervisor and a letter from the multi-disciplinary team in your area will be given strong preference for acceptance.
