Guardian ad Litem Training

OCA’s annual Guardians Ad Litem Conference is now the Youth Law Conference. The conference will be held in November 2009. 

The following organizations offer Guardian ad Litem training that meet the state of Georgia legal requirements:

• The Institute for Continuing Legal Education http://www.iclega.org offers both online and videotape classes.
• One Child One Lawyer offers a one-day seminar. For information visit the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation website http://www.avlf.org.
• Non-attorney GALs can receive training through Georgia CASA http://www.gacasa.org.

Local courts are also encouraged to develop their own GAL training curriculum. For information on how to do so and approval of training content please contact the Office of the Child Advocate.
